Consumer Reports (consumerreports.org) conducts an annual survey of subscribers looking for the best place to buy almost anything. In bricks and mortar locations Costco wins hands down as the favorite place for CR respondents to shop.
Online is another story altogether as savvy consumers increasingly go to the web to find the best prices on the goods and services they covet.

Consumer Reports cites the following as the cream of the deal hunting crop when it comes to web-based comparison shopping. They note that these sites “…even let you set alerts that reveal when the price of an item drops.”
